Japanese style omelet

"Tamagoyaki", Japanese style omelet, is really basic side dish for Japanese. The taste of omelet differed from each household. In this page, I will introduce the basic recipe for Japanese style omelet.

Ingredients

Egg
2
Dashi
2 tablespoons
Salt
1-2 pinch

1. Mix all the ingredients together,

2. Pour oil (vegetable oil) into the frying pan. Of cause you can use a normal frying pan, but if you have a square frying pan for tamagoyaki, it will be easier to make the shape.

Heat with medium-high heat.

3. When the frying pan is hot enough, pour the mixture into the frying pan.

When it started to cooked, start folding it from one side. Set heat to low-medium heat (it's easy to set it low, but it will take more time)

After folding 2-3 times, slide the egg to the side and spread liquid part to the rest of frying pan.

4. Repeat folding and spreading... Make sure you do this before all of liquid solidified, otherwise it won't make shape!!

FYI... I took around 3 minutes with medium-low heat, and my mom took 1 minute with high heat (she's used to it!!!).

5. Put the omelet gently on the plate, and set aside around 3 minutes (the omelet shrinks a bit and gets steadier)

After a few minutes, cut them into roughly 2 cm thickness, and it's ready to serve!
